I kinda understand Bella but she still annoys me a little bit when she says she feels the hole and all that I feel sorry for her but then she annoys me when she says that the hole is not that bad because of Jacob

i don't think she used Jacob. He was a friend to her when she needed a friend. She would have done the same thing for him had the roles been reversed. I understand her... I've had that hole before.. The one that you do just about anything, no matter how reckless or stupid, to try to plug it up so you don't feel the horrific pain coursing through you. You put on a "happy face," or as happy as you can muster, and you try to push through your days to make everyone else think you're ok. You find comfort in certain people, not because you want to use them, but because they bring a ray of hope in to your life and you are drawn to them. She is an amazingly strong person. I know a lot of people do not see it that way, but when you are torn apart like that... When your heart has been ripped from your chest, the easiest thing in the world to do is give up... To just end it there... The hardest thing? is to fight. To keep trying. To find that ray of light and to cling to it with all you have. Yes, she hurt Jacob, but she never meant to. Yes, she left him and went back to Edward, how ever... Jacob chose to continue on with the "we can't be friends" and all that crap. He could have always come to her house to see her. It was considered nuetral territory. He didn't have to act the way that he did either. He is not the only person who was hurt in their relationship... Jacob hurt Bella too... and after knowing the pain that she was going through because of Edward, he is even more wrong for hurting her the way that he did.

Hi: Bella belongs to a different kind of space than where we experience her, and of course Edward, Jacob and all of the characters in the book live there. I remember reading science fiction magazines that were just fantasy, just imagination but now they are real. Maybe the relationships in the book are not so much fantasy as a way to begin thinking about how it would be to live in an unpredicatable world where imagination is necessary, and getting along with really weird people is necessary.
I have a more mature viewpoint as I'm older than most of the Twilight experiencers. It is a very unique experience to me, who has never even once in my life been gripped by any thing so suddenly as I have been by the series.
What is to happen in the future, quite often has to begin in the past, that's what's created the ideas of destiny, a very old idea.
I have a feeling that destiny, fate , fortune, had a grip on Stephanie Meyers even before she had the dream. What began in the first Twilight book was 'already there in some kind of mental space'.
She said she'd gone through 6 months of sleeplessness before the dream. That's a very odd thing for so young a woman!! When she created Bella and her relationship to Edward and to Jacob in the first book, she may or may not have been aware of how the plot was to develop so that in Breaking Dawn, her relationship to Jacob was revealed to have been born in the past. Her unusual daughter's future was already part of Bella.
I have a great deal of respect for the Cullen family, somehow they seem real to me now. Robert Pattinson seems to me the only choice for Edward though. That had to be Fate, somehow when he was born, Twilight was part of him too.
Love the series, also love The Host, after I managed to persist long enough to get through it.

I totally understand Bella and how she felt when Edward left her...
Of course, when the one you love so much, your true love even, leaves you, it is devastating... I even admired her for her sacrificing concern for those around her... She did everything to keep the pain to herself because she knows it will hurt those around her when they see how she suffers, although she did not have much success on that, still.
Some time ago, when my bestfriend told me she is leaving, it was so much for me to handle,... It has been very dark during that time for me... I did not have a hole in my chest but I know how it feels like was breaking into pieces...
And I believe she did not use Jacob, she has no intention to use Jacob. Jacob is there for her all the time and he helped keep Bella from breaking. It is his choice and what she is doing is accepting his help... He is a friend and Bella accepts the friendship he offers...

i think when reading new moon if you didnt cry you really didnt understand the felling that was wriiten on the page even if you knew what was gonna happen you still cry cause its so sad...... if you think about it its edwards fault jacob was so involved with bella if he never left bella might have never become a vampire or have renesme so jacob would have no one to imprint upon thanks to his leaving the story was that much better

I think she is a good person that was stuck in a very..very odd situation. I probably would have been confused if I was her too. I mean you love this guy unconditionally, then he stomps on your heart and the world is ended. So you find someone else that comforts you and you start to love them, but it's more best friend love than it is romance boyfriend love because you still love that other person that crushed you. And then they come back! And your like crap. And then not to mention they aren't even human. So, I like her. She is a good decision maker.

Jacob hurt Bella too... and after knowing the pain that she was going through because of Edward, he is even more wrong for hurting her the way that he did. I really don't see how Bella hurt Jacob. He did not come to her house because he did NOT try to go along with the whole "we can be friends" thing. I also, don't think Bella would have been such a good friend to him if the roles were reversed. She had plenty of school friends around her (Mike and Angela especially) at the time when she was suffering before she brought the bikes and went to Jacob to help her fix them but she did not pay them any attention or let them comfort her when they tried. Mike tried to remain a friend and walked her to class and everything but she remained being moppy and never acknowledged his friendship or said thank you. That is not the characteristic of "an incredibly strong person." A real friend does not just look at how a situation is going to benefit them but how they can help the next person. Jacob did this when it came to Bella when he decided to start being friends with her again after Edward came back. Hanging out with her and then sending her back to Edward, hurt him like crazy but he did it to be a friend to her. She never put her feelings aside and just did something for him. Yeah, he may still had some thoughts that maybe somehow he could still get with her but even when he knew it was hopeless, he still did what he could to be a friend and protect her.

Okay so the first time i read the series i loved bella and never saw a problem with her. I have read the series many times always skipping over newmoon but it depresses me too much. I saw the movie and i realized i neede to read the book to see how true the movie was to the book. I started to read new moon and fell in love with it, even though edward is absent for most of it. However i found bellas character to be very selfish. she loves edward but plays with jacobs head. However she realizes what she is doing but cant stop because she needs jacob in order for her to be sane or well close to it. As soon as edward is endanger she throws away jacob. I know she cries when she says goodbye ti jacob but we all know she is gunna choose edward by the end. I just think Bella is selfish. But everyone is selfish and i still love bella because i probably would o fdone the same thing as her if i were in her position. If edward of left town i would o fmoved on to jacob but not of wanted anything serious just brotherly just like bella wanted. I am all for team edward but recently i have been pushing towards team jacob. I dont know whats happening haha but i love edward...

I think, I don't blame Bella for her decision... For me, she did not dump Jacob when she came to Volterra for Edward... Maybe, she disregarded him but she didn't dump him... Yeah, maybe she has some mistakes there, she became a little selfish but if you are in her place what would you do...
Of course, it is not her intention to lead Jacob on but think of her dad, her friends and everyone else who cares for her... If she didn't stay friends with Jacob, she may go back to her numb self and it would make them worry... She has to be sane not only for her self but also for those around her...

I don't know about you guys, but Bella kind of bugs me a little bit. Especially in New Moon. I mean I totally sympathize with her about losing the love of her life, but seriously. It's mostly how it always talks about "the hole in her chest" and how she always feels like she can't breathe, and how she wraps her arms around herself to hold herself together. Anyways, I just thought I'd put that out there. =) Don't get me wrong I love Love LOVE the twilight books and I love Bella most of the time... Lol. If you've never felt the way she did, you're lucky. Don't try to go there. If you've never realized you were instantly imprinted at first glance, when you 'saw a certain face' , knowing he was the one you would marry, it's probably hard to imagine. It might be what 'fate' really is about. Bella had no choice about whether Edward was going to install himself in her heart, and its likely he didn't know how to do it. That was where enigmatic 'fate' intervened, but anyone that's 'been there' may be surprised to think of it as a 'no option to choose' event. It seemed in the series that she really didn't have the option to choose Jacob either. If you watch how 'easy' she becomes whenever Jacob is near by, you see a different Bella, she's confident, friendly, her eyes brighten, she's really alive. She doesn't look 'awed, almost hypnotized' 'glamoured' (to quote the Other Vampire Bill C0mpton) the way she does when Edward is around. I thing that's where Kristin shows she's a fine actress, when she 'shines' for Jacob. Bella and Edward are almost perverse mirrors of each other.
